Our school is a co-educational primary school with children aged rising 5-9 years. Children normally transfer to Saxmundham Middle School when they leave at the end of Year 4, followed by transfer to Leiston High School at the end of Year 8. Prior to entry most children attend Sibton Nursery School. They commence full-time at our school in the term of their fifth birthday.
In 2005 the school formed a federation with nearby middleton School. Staff, governors and parents work together to provide the best possible education for all the pupils while still retaining each schools individual identity.
The children are grouped in two classes according to their age: 4-7 years (Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1) and 7-9 years (Lower Key Stage 2). However, because of the relatively small number of pupils, we are able to be flexible across the classes in order to meet children's individual needs and abilities, particularly in the teaching of Literacy and Numeracy.
Teaching is carried out in a variety of styles - class, group and individual, according to the needs of the child and the requirements of the curriculum. Children are encouraged and rewarded to work purposefully in order to maximise their personal potential and to develop a positive attitude towards learning with each other. The staff plan the curriculum together to ensure continuity and progression for all children. Work is differentiated to allow for the range of age and ability within each class.
